Descriptions
RAF Be2a 1/32 DCM WW1 Reconnaissance aircraft: Wings of Horus are proud to bring you the Digital Card models Royal Aircraft Factory Be2. The aircraft was extremely stable, which caused problems in combat, making it vulnerable to more maneuverable enemy fighters. Nevertheless, it was a rugged aircraft that was able to perform several roles. For example, in 1916 during a Zeppelin raid on London, William Robinson in his BE2 biplane climbed to 10,000 feet, and dived. The airship fired a barrage of 20 machine guns, and released a smoke screen, climbing to get away. As they both climbed, Robinson saw the Zeppelin his sights and fired a 5 second burst from his guns. He was armed with the new experimental Pomeroy incendiary bullets. The hydrogen filled Zeppelin began to burn. Robinson was awarded the Victoria Cross, and prizes of #2000 + #1000 + #500 that had been offered by individuals for the first destruction of an enemy airship over Britain. In service long after it was obsolete, the Be2 gained an undeserved reputation.
