LanHelper is a powerful Local Area Network (LAN) management, discovery and monitoring tool for Windows platform. It offers many useful functions such as remote wakeup, remote shutdown, remote execute and monitoring your machines, etc. With its special scan engine, LanHelper can scan various network information what you need. The scanned results can be saved to Extensible Markup Language (XML) that extensible and open. No any server program is required, which make your network management more easy and save your time & money!
LanHelper scans the abundance of information of the machines on network. The information includes name (NetBIOS name or DNS name), IP address, MAC address, workgroup name, user name, OS type, server type, comment, shared folders, shared printer, comment of the shared resource, etc. Powered with multithreading technology, LanHelper is capable of scanning hundreds of computers per second. The scan engine is integrated with the unique feature that detects the access to the shared folders, which helps you to find out whether the shared folders are writable, read-only or protected by password.
Without installing any server program, you would find the network management is easier by using LanHelper. Remote Wakeup sends the Wake-On-LAN commands (Magic Packet) to power on the machines on LAN or WAN. Supports schedule. Remote Shutdown can shut down or reboot the remote machines on local network. Supports schedule. Remote Execute enables you to execute command, run program or open other files on remote computers. For example, make the remote computer open an URL or just play an MP3 song. If the LanHelper Integrated Command is used in Remote Execute, you can even make the remote machine perform many operations such as lock computer, capture screen, get system information, manage process and more, even if the machine is located outside your local network. Refresh Status can monitoring the machines on your network, check whether machines are online or not, and detect whether the computer names or the IP addresses have been modified or not. Send Message sends text messages to users, computers, workgroups, the whole LAN or ranges of IP address in a flexible way.
The scan results can be saved to XML file which is usable for future version or early version of LanHelper. Even without LanHelper, the file can be viewed by web browser such as Internet Explorer (IE), or be used by other programs such as MS Office 2002 that support XML. While opening the XML file in web browser, the file LHstyle.xsl written in eXtensible Stylesheet Language (XSL) will convert the XML file to HTML table, which is more convenient for browsing.
