Codabar was designed for character self-checking eliminating the requirement for checksum characters. However, checksum characters in the Codabar barcode are optional and they do maximize data integrity. The symbology of the Codabar character set consists of bar code symbols representing characters 0-9, Letters A to D and the following symbols: - . $ / +. Additional data can be encoded in the actual choice of start and stop codes. The letters A, B C and D are used for start and stop codes. For example, if you want to print the data 2727 in the Codabar barcode font you would print A2727B with the Codabar font selected. Codabar Font Advantage Package Features With this package you receive twelve different font versions in six font formats. You also receive font tools, macros and source code to help you integrate the fonts into your application. Details of the Codabar Font Advantage Package are as follows: Easy to use - our Codabar fonts are easy to use in applications and can be entered directly from the keyboard. All barcodes require a start and stop character and these can also be entered from the keyboard. For example, to create a barcode that encodes the data "1234" with the Codabar Font, you: (1) select the font from the list of fonts in your application; (2) type the start character, in this case it is "A"; (3) type the data, in this case it is "1234"; (4) type the stop character, in this case it is "B"; and then change the font back to the default font of your document. Multiple Versions Provided - the Codabar barcode fonts are scaleable and should be printed at the correct font size to suit your application and scanning equipment. Twelve (12) versions of the Codabar barcode fonts are provided to support human readable versions and different width and height requirements. Fonts beginning with IDAutomationH are human readable versions with the translation below the barcode. The last characters in the Codabar barcode font name determines the height of the barcode with the shortest being IDAutomatonCBXS and the tallest being IDAutomatonCBXXL. To determine which Codabar barcode font to use, first print out the IDAutomatonCBS barcode font at various font sizes to determine which size is the smallest that will work with your scanning equipment. Our advanced Codabar fonts have been designed to be able to produce dependable and scannable barcodes when printed at large and small point sizes. With a 600 DPI laser printer, the Codabar font can be printed as small as 6 points if the scanner supports reading it. Printed with an HP Laserjet at 600 DPI, we have been able to dependably scan our Codabar font printed at 6 points with the Internec CCD scanner. Excluding the start and stop characters, you can achieve slightly more than 18 CPI print density when printing at 6 points. Keep in mind though, the Codabar fonts should be printed at 12 points or larger for open systems. When distributing the fonts outside your organization, you may not resell, rent, lease or distribute the fonts alone, they must be distributed as a component of an application and bundled with an application or with the application's installation files. If you have more than one developer that will be developing applications using the fonts, you will need to purchase a Developer License for each additional developer. The 5 Developer License costs $1180 and grants the rights of the Developer License for up to 5 developers and 20,000 user licenses. This license is also granted if two Developer Licenses are purchased. The Unlimited Developer License costs $1770 and grants the rights of the Developer License for an unlimited number of developers and an unlimited number of user licenses. This license is also granted if three Developer Licenses are purchased. The Single User License costs $99 and allows use of the Software for one effective user in your organization. The number of effective users for software licensing is determined by the method defined below that returns the greatest number. The number of users contributing to the data that is printed with the Software. For example, 100 users entering or editing data on a host where only 1 program prints barcodes to 1 printer, would require 100 user licenses. According to the multi-user licensing below, this would require 4 Single User Licenses to be purchased. The number of users that have the Software installed on their CPU. The number of printers that are being printed to with the Software. For example, 1 user printing to 5 printers would require 5 licenses. Per the multi-user licensing below, only 2 Single User Licenses would need to be purchased. Multi-User Licenses are obtained by ordering multiple single user licenses of the same product.
