Royal Mail 4 State Customer Code Barcode Font Info:

  • The Royal Mail 4-State Customer Code (RM4SCC) was created for automated mail sortation processes and is normally used to print the postcode and Delivery Point Suffix (DPS) on letters in machine readable format.
  • The RM4SCC fonts are used to print the 4-State Customer Code barcodes for automated mail sortation and addressing in the UK. The RM4SCC 4 State barcode fonts also implement KIX codes as used by the Dutch PTT for bulk mail addressing. 4-State barcode fonts are also used in several other places including Singapore, Australia and the Netherlands.
  • The Royal Mail 4-State Customer Code (RM4SCC) is based on 36 barcodes representing alphanumeric characters (0-9, A-Z), as well as start and stop bar characters which are represented by ( and ).
  • The TrueType version of the Royal Mail 4 State Customer Code bar code font is compatible with all versions of Windows® including Windows® 3.1, Windows® 95, Windows® 98, Windows® NT, Windows® 2000 and Windows® XP.
  • Although Royal Mail 4 State Customer Code fonts are scaleable, they were designed to be printed at 12 points. The Royal Mail 4 State Customer Code barcode symbols also meet Royal Mail specification tolerances when printed at 11 or 13 points. The following is sample code from Visual Basic that selects the Royal Mail 4 State Customer Code font and size.
    Printer.FontName = "IDAutomation4STATE"
    Printer.FontSize = 12
    Printer.Print variable
  • To help users integrate RM4SCC barcodes into their applications, we provide MS Office Macros for Excel and Access, LotusScript, ActiveX DLLs for development platforms that support ActiveX technology, Crystal Reports User Function Libraries (UFLs) and a check digit calculation application with Visual Basic source code as a free download for programmers and technical users. The DLLs, macros, UFLs and VB code provided automatically format the start, stop and check characters to our RM4SCC barcode font.
  • The Royal Mail 4-State Customer Code bar code font package includes one TrueType version, one OpenType version and two PostScript versions of the Royal Mail 4 State Customer Code Postal bar code font. The PostScript Royal Mail 4 State Customer Code bar code font can be used in Unix systems and may be directly downloaded into PostScript printers. Binary and ASCII versions are provided.
  • TrueType fonts are supplied in PC and Macintosh format. The TrueType TTF fonts are compatible with Macintosh OS X and all versions of Microsoft® Windows®, including Pocket PC.
  • With the purchase of a Developer License and 1 year of support and upgrade protection, we can convert fonts from this package to PCL 4, Xerox Metacode, XES, FNT, BDF, FON and AFP. More about this is provided here. The Developer License also grants you the right to convert our fonts to other formats as necessary including TrueDoc and OpenType.

Australian Post Address Barcode Font Info:

  • The Australian Post Address barcode is another implementation of the 4-State barcode. However, their implementation uses different encoding tables than the RM4SCC barcode to encode 64 different barcodes in the "C Encoding Table" and 10 in the "N Encoding Table". They also use Reed Solomon error checking instead of a single check character.
  • The Australia Post Address barcode can be printed from our fonts by sending the appropriate bar state value for each bar of the character to the printer with the "IDAutomation4State" font selected. For example, to produce the character "H" under the "C Encoding Table", you would send the numbers "012" to the printer. to produce the number "7" under the "N Encoding Table", you would send the numbers "21" to the printer.
  • For more information about the Australia Post Address barcode, please visit the Future Post website. At this website they provide a guide to print the 4-State barcode and Visual Basic programming code for calculating the Reed Solomon error correction.

Printing Other Implementations of the 4-State Barcode:

There may be other implementations of the 4-State barcode. Any implementation of the 4-State barcode can be produced with our fonts by sending the appropriate bar state value for each bar of the characters to the printer with the "IDAutomation4State" font selected as is done with the Australian Post Address barcode. Below is a chart that describes the encoding of our "IDAutomation4State" font:

Pricing and Licensing:

The following is a summary of licensing and pricing, refer to the License Agreement for details about the license.

  • The Small Company Developer License costs $295. With this license, the rights of the Developer License are granted to all organizations with a gross annual revenue or funding of less than 2 million U.S. Dollars (or equivalent amount in a foreign currency) if that company purchases either three (3) Single User Licenses for the same font product or the Small Company Developer License and sends us a signed Small Company Agreement which is located at http://www.idautomation.com/sca/.
  • The Developer License costs $590 and allows one developer royalty-free distribution of the Software internally (in the same organization) and externally (outside the organization bundled with an application) up to 10,000 user licenses, provided you adhere to the Developer License distribution terms. When distributing the fonts outside your organization, you may not resell, rent, lease or distribute the fonts alone, they must be distributed as a component of an application and bundled with an application or with the application's installation files. For details, review the the distribution terms. If you have more than one developer that will be developing applications using the fonts, you will need to purchase a Developer License for each additional developer.
  • The 5 Developer License costs $1180 and grants the rights of the Developer License for up to 5 developers and 20,000 user licenses. This license is also granted if two Developer Licenses are purchased.
  • The Unlimited Developer License costs $1770 and grants the rights of the Developer License for an unlimited number of developers and an unlimited number of user licenses. This license is also granted if three Developer Licenses licenses are purchased.
  • The Single User License costs $99 and allows use of the Software for one effective user in your organization. The number of effective users for software licensing is determined by the method defined below that returns the greatest number.
    1. The number of users contributing to the data that is printed with the Software. For example, 100 users entering or editing data on a host where only 1 program prints barcodes to 1 printer, would require 100 user licenses. According to the multi-user licensing below, this would require 4 Single User Licenses to be purchased.
    2. The number of users that have the Software installed on their CPU.
    3. The number of printers that are being printed to with the Software. For example, 1 user printing to 5 printers would require 5 licenses. Per the multi-user licensing below, only 2 Single User Licenses would need to be purchased.
  • Multi-User Licenses are obtained by ordering multiple single user licenses of the same product. The effective number of licensed users is determined by the following:
    1 Single User License = 1 licensed user
    2 Single User Licenses = 5 licensed users
    3 Single User Licenses = 25 licensed users
    4 Single User Licenses = 100 licensed users
    5 Single User Licenses = 500 licensed users
    6 Single User Licenses = Developer License Granted for 10,000 licensed users
  • The Complete Barcode, MICR and OCR Font License allows you to order all of our fonts in one package for a reasonable price. Single user versions are available as well as multi-user and developer licenses. View the link above for pricing on this license.
  • We offer free technical support and product upgrades for a period of 90 days from the date of purchase on all software products. Technical support and product upgrades may be provided beyond 90 days if the Extended Support and Upgrade Protection option is purchased when you order.
